How to write an Essay
1. Always have an Introduction, Body, Conclusion

2. Ask the 4W + 1 H questions
(Equivalents are in Malay language)

W: What = "Apa"
W: Who = "Siapa"
W: Where = "Di Mana"
W: When = "Bila"
H: How = "Bagaimana"

Other W's
W: Why = "Kenapa" / "Mengapa"
W: Which = "Yang Mana"
W: Whose = "Siapa punya"

Objective: Write sentences to create a story about your recent school holidays.


1. When did you go for your school holidays?

I went for my school holidays last week.

2. Where did you go for your school holidays?
I went to the zoo in Kuala Lumpur.

3. Who did you go with to the zoo?
I went with my family.

4. What did you see at the zoo?
I saw many animals. For example, I saw lions, snakes, elephants, tigers and many more.

5. What was your favourite animal? Why?
My favourite animal was the ......(fill in yourself). I like it because ...(fill in yourself).

Suggested answers:
Rabbit - because it has white fur and cute ears.
Elephant - because it has a long trunk.
Tiger - because it has orange and black stripes. It can also run very fast.
Snake - because its skin is shiny.

Exercise: Write the story with the answers above.

Adjectives can have different degrees.
  • She is beautiful.
  • Marina compared to Lily is more beautiful.
  • Marina is the most beautiful girl in her class.
1. Adding 'er', 'est'
Big - Bigger - Biggest
Far - Farther - Farthest
Thin - Thinner - Thinnest
Clever - Cleverer - Cleverest

2. Adding 'more', 'most' (usually for adjectives with more than 1 syllable)
Beautiful - More Beautiful - Most Beautiful
Interesting - More Interesting - Most Interesting
Fascinating - More Fascinating - Most Fascinating
